Melaka - There's a reason why there is no queue

Arriving in Melaka the place generally seems allot less crowded than Singapore. The shopping malls are practically deserted as are most of the food centres and restaurants.

So after arriving at the bus station in Melaka, and getting a lift into town from Joanna's friend, I headed for the nearest food centre looking for another new dish. The winner – claypot chicken and mushroom for the grand sum of 5 Malaysian Ringgits…(about 80p). The dish looked and smelt wonderful when it was ready. It even ‘ticked’ another sense as the rice sizzled in the hot claypot. The mushrooms were lovely and juicy and the rice was well flavoured and wonderfully crunchy at the bottom of the claypot. But the chicken was so was so full of bones it became obvious why it was only 5 Ringgits.

One more point to note is, like Singapore, there is always a container of chillies nearby for one spoon into a small dish and add to their food to their liking. Well in the heat stakes the chillies here are Premiership compared to those in Singapore which really are only Vauxhall Conference.
